An interesting idea for a story: imagine in detail a society consisting (before the first children are born) solely of clones of Goethe and Ada Lovelace.
“No, no. Let us be clear about one thing: the clones most definitely do not think of each other as of themselves — they compete with enormous intensity, perhaps more than they ever would if they interacted with outsiders — because the lowest of their achievers is still a genius by normal standards and would effortlessly beat most outsiders. Indeed, the major cause of death among the clones is overwork.”
“But you said there is no violence?”
“Yes, the clones do not fight. Whatever set of traits that promotes or at least allows physical aggression either is not present in them genetically or, being already weak, is prevented by their social mores.”
“But they compete?”
“Yes, they are a sort of nation of Casanovas. No violence, but the most furious sort of arms race is conducted in the art of seduction. I almost would be interested to see what would happen if the clones were unleashed on outsider women, but I suspect it would confuse them as they have never seen or interacted with a female other than one with Ada’s form and personality.”
