Second Chances

Surely we should give others second chances, but there is no reason why we should we give a second chance to someone who has never given us a first chance.

    There’s plenty of reasons to give someone a second, third and fourth chance–and more. True giving, of any sort (the giving of chances, of wealth, of freedom from fear, whatever), isn’t based on what the other does.

    If you’re talking about commerce, then sure: don’t give too much slack. If your generosity isn’t pegged to an exchange market in your heart, then give again and again.
