In light of human foibles, I would suggest that this decision rule be used in lieu of Occam’s Razor: of several possible explanations for an observation, the most boring one is probably the most accurate.

… but the one with the most interesting conspiracy theory is the one most people will believe.
As for me, I find myself beleiving in the one that favors me the most.
When trying to decide which version of a feature is the one users will really need, the one that’s hardest to implement is it.
